Poste Italiane has obtained two medium/long-term credit lines totalling € 700 million from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to support the ESG initiatives in the 24SI Plus strategic plan, which optimise the Group’s financial structure.
These lines of credit are the first Green loans for Poste Italiane, with a fixed rate and bullet repayment, for up to:
- €600 million, for up to 5 years, to purchase tax credits from individuals and companies for real estate energy efficiency and decarbonisation projects;
- €100 million, for up to 6 years, to renovate the fleet of around 4,150 zero-emission electric vehicles.
Gelsomina Vigliotti, EIB Vice President, commented, “With its unrivalled distribution network throughout Italy, Poste Italiane is a key partner of ours in facilitating sustainable and innovative investments. As the EU’s Climate Bank, the EIB is supporting Poste Italiane’s decarbonisation plan, which aims to significantly lower CO2 emissions with projects that foster energy efficiency and sustainable mobility in Italy, a priority of the NRRP”. Matteo Del Fante, CEO and General Manager of Poste Italiane stated, “These green projects confirm our commitment to ESG, one of the pillars of the 24SI Plus plan, an operation that reinforces our ambition as a system operator to help accelerate Italy’s energy transition”.
