Poste Italiane was recognised by Institutional Investor magazine for its relations with financial analysts and institutional investors. This award highlights the company’s ability to attract investors and return value to shareholders. After all, this is exactly the mission of an investor relator, as Massimiliano Riggi, Head of Investor Relations and Business Insight at Poste Italiane, explains.
The new investor relator role
‘The new investor relator role’, Riggi explains, ‘must go from simply explaining the company’s strategy and practices to defining why the strategy is in the best position to unlock shareholder value and thus attract and engage with investors over the long term and add more value’. ‘The future’, he emphasises, ‘sees our role moving away from simply telling a story or keeping track of what investors say. Now our job is to proactively cultivate them and try to engage them.
The icing on the cake
‘This award’, Riggi emphasises, ‘is the icing on the cake for me and the Investor Relations team. It is great to see that the financial community is appreciating our efforts, and it is confirmation that the team is doing a good job. Top management also appreciated the award and is aware of the deep involvement of the people who voted for us. This is the second year that we have been recognised by Institutional Investor, and we hope that it is the beginning of a long winning streak’.
