The introduction of LIS (Italian Sign Language) counters in post offices is part of an experimental project that envisages the use of staff capable of expressing themselves in the Italian Sign Language for both counter activities, such as paying bills and sending mail and parcels, and for those in the consultancy room where it is possible to receive information on financial, insurance and investment products. The project experimentation includes the use of staff able to express themselves in sign language for all counter activities, such as paying bills and sending correspondence and parcels, as well as for those in the counselling room.
