The Poste Energia offer
Poste Energia is a pay-as-you-go offer, which can be activated for both electricity and gas.
It proposes a price for the energy component that is locked in for two years; marketing and sales costs, on the other hand, are charged at the value set and updated by ARERA.
The offer also includes the possibility of choosing to pay for the service through a consistent 12-monthly ‘fixed-rate bill’, calculated on the individual customer’s annual consumption. The aim is to help manage household expenditure through quantifiable and predictable spending, without hidden costs, security deposits, and exit penalties.
The ‘fixed-rate bill‘ option provides for an adjustment of the instalment amount at the end of the first 12 months of the contract calculated on the basis of the customer’s actual annual consumption.
The new instalment will take into account any over- or under-consumption compared to that used for the initial calculation:
- if consumption is higher, the outstanding amounts will be spread over the instalments of the following 12 months;
- if consumption is lower, the customer can decide whether to reduce the amount of the new instalment or receive a refund, either to a Postepay Evolution card or to a Bancoposta account.
This mechanism is also aimed at incentivising virtuous behaviour in households in terms of reducing energy consumption.
Environmental Sustainability
Poste Energia is also a sustainable offer that uses only energy certified as being produced in Italy from 100% renewable sources and provides full carbon offsetting of the gas sold.

The other advantages of Poste Energia
Among the advantages of Poste Energia is the possibility of customising the due date of the invoice by deciding on which day to set the payment between the 25th of the month and the 2nd of the following month, and the simplicity of requesting an online quote on the Poste Italiane website –after registering – and then signing the contract at any post office.
