Poste Italiane launched the “fresh” express courier service for the home delivery of fresh groceries through a partnership between its subsidiary MLK Deliveries and Mazzocco Srl, a company of the Italtrans logistics systems group.
How the delivery will work
Poste Italiane’s “fresh” deliveries are already operational in many cities, including Rome, Milan, Turin, Bologna and Florence, and will soon be extended to all regional capitals. Products purchased online will travel on refrigerated vehicles and will be delivered during the time slot chosen by the customer. The recipient will also have the option of picking up the parcel at a “fresh” point, instead of at the previously indicated address, by reporting the change online up to 30 minutes before the originally scheduled delivery time on the tracking page that the recipient receives by text message and email for each shipment.
New opportunities
The alliance between the two companies combines the technology of MLK Deliveries, which will receive customer bookings for scheduled deliveries, with Mazzocco’s cold logistics platform. With this operation, Poste Italiane expands its range of logistics services related to e-commerce in order to seize the new opportunities offered by the continuous rise of the food and wine sector, which has seen the value of online purchases triple in the last four years.
