Poste Italiane reaffirms its supremacy in the MIB® ESG GLOBAL SCORE index, the survey promoted by Euronext and Borsa Italiana that analyses the best practices in environment, sustainability and corporate governance adopted by the Blue Chips of Piazza Affari. In particular, Poste Italiane further improved its performance in the environmental and social areas.

The words of Del Fante

“The leadership for which we are again recognised by Borsa Italiana is further proof of the value of our sustainable development strategy,” commented Poste Italiane CEO Matteo Del Fante. “The confirmation of this leadership further strengthens the Group’s reputation in global markets and generates benefits in terms of competitiveness, in full compliance with the principles of sustainability”.

Lasco’s comment

“The result obtained confirms once again the validity of the path undertaken to integrate environmental, social and governance aspects in Poste Italiane’s strategy,” said Giuseppe Lasco, Co-General Manager of Poste Italiane, “ aspects that prove to be fundamental in the process of creating sustainable value for the company and all its stakeholders”.

The methodology

The methodology underpinning the index involves a ranking of the best 40 companies on the basis of ESG criteria, selected from the 60 most liquid Italian companies, and excludes those involved in activities not compatible with ESG investments. Index components are weighted according to market float capitalisation. The MIB® ESG index combines economic performance measurement with ESG assessments in line with the principles of the UN Global Compact. The composition of the index is based on the analysis of ESG criteria by Vigeo Eiris (V.E.), a Moody’s ESG Solutions company which assesses the ESG performance of issuers. The index composition is updated quarterly to include companies whose ESG performance has improved sufficiently.
