La Presidente Silvia Rovere: “Poste motore di innovazione per il Paese”

An “extraordinary” result, manifested in the many meetings across the country: “I had the opportunity to meet the women and men who work for Poste Italiane and I was extremely impressed not only by their professionalism, which is well recognised, but also by their enthusiasm, warmth and sense of belonging, which is really very strong,” said Poste Italiane Group President Silvia Rovere in an interview with TG Poste.

Bridging the digital divide

She noted how after the pandemic, “more than ever before,” Poste “has been able to interpret its role as a company not only at the service of the country, of communities and of people but also as a driver of innovation.” During the COVID-19 years, not everyone was ready for the technological leap imposed by lockdowns: “We have touched with our own hands,” notes Rovere, “the ability of Poste and our colleagues to contribute to reducing the digital divide among customers, a major obstacle to the modernisation of the country. In this – she adds – I believe that the Polis project deserves a special mention. It brings public administration services to the most remote places of the country, to municipalities with under 15,000 inhabitants spread across the territory, where these innovations often struggle to arrive and therefore there is it is a sense of abandonment, of depopulation, of loss of competitiveness.”

Awards

Turning to the results of 2023, the President of Poste Italiane speaks of “a year of great satisfaction, consolidation and also improvements in financial results that were above expectations.” However, these results were also achieved with the greater Poste community in mind, for example with a €1,000 bonus to all employees, to support incomes dented by inflation, a year in which Poste “improved its positioning also at an international level by achieving resounding results certified by third-party bodies”, from the global leadership recognised by Dow Jones in the Insurance sector, to the recent Oscar for Financial Statements and the leadership among companies listed on the Euronext index. “This,” says Rovere, “testifies to a remarkable effort not only in the achievement of results, but also in the quality of the impact on communities. Rovere recalls the Group’s focus on families with initiatives such as the Yellow Ribbon initiative, which are an encouragement against the demographic winter, and commitments made in the ESG sphere, for example with an Energia offer built with 100% renewable sources and fixed prices on bills.

Mattarella’s good wishes

Finally, a special wish from the highest office of state: “To our people and their families a Merry Christmas greeting, which this year I also have the honour to bring from the Head of State. President Mattarella honoured us with the opportunity to receive his best wishes directly from him, which he asked us to pass on to all the people who work at Poste, to the customers and to the great community that is Poste,” concludes Rovere. “I believe it was a wonderful honour to close this 2023 with best wishes for 2024.”
