Poste Italiane continues its work in Friuli Venezia Giulia, which will allow the Company to achieve the goal of "zero net carbon dioxide emissions" by 2030. The installation of the photovoltaic systems located in these first 4 post offices in Friuli Venezia Giulia is part of a larger project by Poste that involves the installation of systems with an average power of about 50kWp for a total installed capacity of about 19MWp, intervening on medium and large sites, including post offices, management offices and sorting centres. The number of panels installed by Poste Italiane is specific to each photovoltaic system, in compliance with the size of the buildings and the technical characteristics.
Distribution
Indeed, over the past days, the installation of a new photovoltaic system consisting of 29 modules mounted on the roof of the building has been completed in 4 post offices in the region (at Pordenone in the post offices of Aviano and Sequals, and at Udine in the post offices of Mereto di Tomba and Ragogna). It is able to generate a total power of 13.5 KW, with an estimated annual energy output of approximately 19,000 kWh, thus enabling a reduction of carbon dioxide emissions by around 10 tonnes per year.
The Polis project
The installation of photovoltaic systems on the roofs of post offices is one of the stages of Polis, the four-year project (2023-2026) designed by Poste Italiane that provides for the modernization, in a sustainable and digital way, of 7,000 post offices in municipalities with less than 15,000 inhabitants, bringing the new Public Administration services to the communities. In Friuli Venezia Giulia, the municipalities involved in Polis (approved by Legislative Decree 59/2021 and financed with 800 million euros of funds under the National Plan for investments complementary to the PNNR) are 202 out of 215.
Strategic asset
The presence in the territory is in fact a strategic asset for the Company, and Polis intends to strengthen a path of closeness, already undertaken in the past, which over time has allowed to carry out significant interventions for the less densely inhabited municipalities, confirming the active support to communities, businesses and local public administrations.
The role of post offices
Indeed, post offices play a fundamental role in combating the depopulation of small towns, also due to the closure of bank branches, accentuated by the increasing digitalisation of services. Poste Italiane, while continuing to invest in innovation, does not intend to neglect its presence in the territories. In contrast to other European postal operators, which are reducing services and announcing cuts, Poste Italiane is committed to keeping offices open and expanding the offer for citizens.
