Poste: strategic partnership with Benetton Group for fashion logistics

di
Poste Logistics, the company within the Poste Italiane Group dedicated to integrated logistics services, has entered into a strategic agreement with Benetton Logistics, resulting in the creation of the joint venture “Logistic 360”.

A strategic partnership agreement between Poste Italiane and Benetton Group aims to create a leading logistics player capable of attracting new clients and supporting the growth of Italian and European commerce. The agreement, which leverages the respective assets and specific expertise of the two groups in the management and distribution of apparel, provides for the entry of Poste Logistics into the share capital of Benetton Logistics, a spin-off of Benetton Group. This will lead to the establishment of a new joint venture entity named “Logistic 360”.

Key milestone

The project, stemming from Poste Italiane’s leadership in logistics and e-commerce, has been made possible through collaboration with Edizione S.p.A., one of Europe’s major holding companies, known for its long-term industrial vision. The partnership represents a key milestone for the positioning of the Poste Italiane Group in the Contract Logistics market and for the reorganization path of Benetton Group, initiated two years ago with the support of Edizione.

Key features

The agreement focuses on the enhancement and further development of the Castrette di Villorba hub, in the province of Treviso, one of the most advanced European hubs dedicated to fashion logistics management. The site is currently capable of handling 30 million garments across a total surface area of approximately 400,000 square meters – of which 100,000 are equipped with next-generation automated systems. The facility includes a distribution center capable of processing up to 45,000 parcels per day, as well as a plant equipped with a fleet of robots designed to optimize storage and picking operations for e-commerce. The site is also set to expand into new product categories.

Increased operational capacity

Through the acquisition of new clients and expansion into additional sectors, the partnership between Poste Italiane and Benetton Group aims to increase the operational capacity of the infrastructure. This will be supported by investments in technology and solutions based on artificial intelligence, combined with the expertise and professionalism of personnel. The transaction will be finalized following notification to the Italian Competition Authority for the required approvals.
